AN INTRODUCTION TO MOROCCO
Morocco is a diverse country located on the western side of North Africa, touching the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. Morocco is about the same size as California and borders Algeria and the Western Sahara region. It is also just 9 miles from Spain, across the waters of the Strait of Gibraltar. Moroccan culture has a blend of indigenous Amazigh (Berber), Arab, European and African influences. The geography is just as diverse as the people, with mild ocean beaches, rugged mountains and the scorching hot Sahara Desert. Morocco also has a mix of small, rural villages and large, busy cities – like Fez, Casablanca and Marrakech.
